At 16 years old, Dr. Rochel Marie Lawson became the first person in her family to go straight from high school to a four-year university on a scholarship.
It was a dream realized. But behind that dream… was a struggle no one saw.
There was no money for living expenses. Her parents were going through a divorce. There was no financial support coming from home.
There were moments she wanted to give up. Moments where the pressure felt overwhelming. But she didn't.
She found a way. She secured opportunities, worked hard, sustained her scholarship, and graduated in four years. She went on to earn five more degrees—funding her education every step of the way.
A Promise Was Born
And through that journey… a promise was born.
One day, she would create a way for other young women to pursue their college education without facing that struggle alone.
